Tamarindo Preserve...

Few places in the world present the convergence of varied topographies protected in perpetuity as Tamarindo Preserve. From the beach, to the estuary, the hilltops, the sweeping ranchlands and the dense forests, this 500-acre landscape is as stunning as it is diverse. Within these distinct micro-enclaves Tamarindo Preserve reflects the geography of Costa Rica — an aspect that makes this community singularly unique.

The Point
Located where Playa Langosta and Playa Tamarindo meet, this enclave of the Preserve features coveted access to the two beaches in Tamarindo. A portion of the land is elevated on a promontory above the ocean, and part on a hilltop. Residents of both will enjoy spectacular views in every direction, yet are in the town.

The Forest
The Forest is adjacent to and above the estuary. Thick with mature trees, this canopy area of Tamarindo Preserve rises steeply from nearly sea level to more than 250 feet. Residents enjoy views in all directions, as well as being surrounded by some of the most dynamic forest habitat in the world.

The Ranchlands
Characterized by open meadows and surrounded by dense forest, the Ranchlands on the eastern side of the community were once used for cattle grazing. Pastures are being restored and animals will graze there again to retain this bit of Costa Rican heritage. Residents of this enclave appreciate a more wide-open feel and vistas of mountains and Tamarindo Preserve’s jungles.

Hilltop Village
Above the estuary and the Forest, with views to the ocean, mountains and forests is the Village, with homes nestled on rugged natural terracing from 20 to over 115 feet. Residents of the village will be close to shops, markets and other conveniences, while enjoying ocean and forest vistas from their hillside villas.

The Estuary
Many homes in Tamarindo Preserve look out on the Estuary, an expanse of winding waterways and lush marshes teeming with colorful wildlife. Home to the Estuary Club and a system of trails and boardwalks, it has been preserved in perpetuity for the enjoyment, education and recreation of the residents.

A system of pathways, boardwalks and even aerial paths through the treetops thread through the Preserve so that residents can experience the totality of this natural wonder without disturbing their neighbors — the wildlife. The Preserve’s road system similarly respects the land, with winding, intimate lanes of packed gravel, not asphalt, and minimal lighting weaving quietly through the site.
